Why we built it

Group chats hold your most personal conversations — and most apps treat them as a data source. We wanted a room where the only people in the conversation are the people in the conversation.

How it stays private

The Signal Protocol encrypts on your device with keys only your devices hold. Our servers route ciphertext — random-looking bytes — and store nothing they could read even if compelled to.

What that means for you
